Oil!
What are people using?

Mine's done a fair few thousand miles since I replaced the engine, so I figure it deserves an oil change, especially as I have a load of miles to do over the next couple of months heavily laden. Probably going to do both oil filters as well for the sake of completeness. The previous owner of the engine changed it very frequently, to the extent that the oil still looks pretty golden! I intend to keep it in similar good condition.

Also going to drain and refill the t/box and diffs, they've only been topped off since I've had it, so figure a full drain and refill won't go amiss.

Magnatec A5 is ACEA rated for petrol engines Confused

A, B, pretty indistinguishable nowadays...

Looking at some Magnatec with 5W-30 A1 on the big label, the small print reads SAE 5W-30, ACEA A1/B1, A5/B5; Meets Ford WSS-M2C913-A, WSS-M2C913-B, WSS-M2C913-C.

Oil is oil, but at least with Castrol you get the occasional offer of 4 litres for twenty quid or so from Asda, and guaranteed new and not collected from garages, reycycled and repackaged...

Cheers for the thoughts! The other suggestion I've seen is VW 505 01 spec oil, as the TD5 is a unit injector engine, much like the volkswagen PD diesels (which I also have one of) And thus the oil requirements are similar.
