Ignition fed live
Is there a convenient ignition fed live in the engine compartment that can be used to support various accessories?

Is it safe to take a feed from the back of the cigarette lighter? 1999 Td5 110 CSW

The answer in theory to both questions is yes

BUT

It does depend on what you are aiming to do?

As always, the correct fusing, cable size and retaining the integrity of any circuit you intend to connect into are all considerations.

I'll try and dig out some wiring diagrams that may assist, although I suspect another forum member will beat me to it and provide an electronic version!

Best of luck Thumbs Up

Only use one to switch a relay. It is not a good idea to run additional circuits off existing wiring as they are sized and fused for their original purpose.
A relay will only draw milliamps for switching so you could take a feed from the power socket, then you can run power to the relay from the battery and out into a fuse box where you can distribute it to the various additional circuits you wish to add.
