If I can offer any more advice (or wit Laughing apologies for that) just holler. If you had been nearer I would have been on my way to assist long ago.

sounds almost like its back feeding somewhere

in the pic that blue connecting to the dash wiring , (looks a bit thick to me ) are you sure that's the right wire from the aux light wiring loom ?

There are 3 wires that end of the loom 2 have spades on which plug into the back of the switch, the other is about 10 inch longer that goes up to the back of the instrument cluster, looking at the instructions that's the only wire to connect to the main beam feed.

If I look at them again I think my eyes will start to bleed Big Cry

Is it to early to start on the drink Evil or Very Mad

To address this problem on MY15 Defenders, the very latest driving lights kit (VPLDV0103) contains a single switch bezel, which is cut into either the RH or LH facia side panels, using the supplied template -

Excellent instructions there Paul, but geez do you see where I mentions to cut the dash with a Stanley knife. Shocked
I would say that is bloomin dangerous considering the thick tough nature of the dash plastic.

I'd do it many other ways other than that to the same effect and safer too.

I know it's workshop manual / literature there but I'd do that a different way myself.

take there is a main positive feed as well back to battery etc

if you can list the wiring and where its connected and to what

I don't have the bazel, think I might just tuck the switch away under the dash.

Munch Yes main feed runs through a fuse then back into relay, this section of loom was already made up. All I needed to do was run everything to where it needed to be, with leaving the switch out and connecting the two loose ends seems to be causing the problem, when I get more wire I'll get back onto it and let you know the results.

There's one positive to get out of this, I'm certainly learning all about my defender, I would never have attempted this on my range rover sport Thumbs Up

Having a 2013 Defender & having the "Factory" driving light kit fitted, I too was wondering where the switch would go, because on the '13, there is a spare "spot" for the switch, whereas on later models there is not.
Well, at least the current factory kit makes allowance for this with an alternate switch fitting location & "bezel" to retain a factory finish.

Think i would prefer a switch hidden away then havea hole cut in the side of the dash with a switch stuck in it in the middle of nowhere

Well it's been a while, but due to hip surgery I haven't been able to get back to this job, today after running some extension wires in so I could have the switch hidden under the dash I wired the switch in and hey presto it all works so after all the issues with trying not to have the switch it must be as part of the genuine landrover loom the switch needs to be connected.

So I just need it to get dark so I can adjust the spots to suit. Thumbs Up
