Puma airbox removal

Does anyone know the secret on how to release the air filter box from the mounting grommets? I've pulled, I've tugged, sprayed them with WD40 and still they won't shift. I've undone the mounting bracket bolts too thinking I might be able to get that out with it but the box still won't budge.

Miserableolgit,

Workshop dont said too much about it

1. Release the air cleaner outlet pipe. Release the clip.

2 . Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector. Release the wiring harness.

3 . Remove the air cleaner housing cover.

4 . Remove the air cleaner element.

Regards

Thanks Eduardo but I got to that stage without problem. It's the filter housing itself that I want to get out but it refuses to budge even after removing its supporting bracket bolts etc.

It needs to be pulled up at the place where it is closest to the engine then pulled horizontally away from the wing.

Well I've again pulled, heaved, yanked, attempted to lever and generally applied as much force as I dare and even with spraying the rubber grommets with lube the thing still refuses to budge. I think I'll end up drilling out the pop rivets that hold the upper bracket in place.

Well all I can suggest is eat more for breakfast and then have a really good tug. Up and towards the engine that is.

Many thanks for that Tim, I had overlooked the 3rd bracket fastener behind the the shock turret and obscured by mud. All sorted now.

Thanks again,
Steve

I can't even get the top off the air box. It's a LHD and the air box is right under the right hand side wing. I spent an hour trying, but couldn't do it. Now i'm worried that when it goes to the local ford garage for it's first service (in France) they'll just not bother changing it or they'll bend the wing. Is anybody elses under the wing?
