2006 Defender 110 Td5 USW Zermatt Silver
I was going to fit one of those boot things to mine, but if you do you are likely to hold water inside the connector, where without one fitted any moisture would just run away. People talk about corrosion issues, but these connectors are used in many places and I'm yet to see a failed one. Mine had a quick spray of battery terminal spray when installed, and I have never had any issues. These are better than most jump leads that people are using.

Here's anolther. Must be just in the marine environment they corrode. Little wonder I have no faith in them. This one had only been fitted for about three months. Shocked

TBF anything in the marine enviroment will corrode due to the slat in the water. I very much doubt there will be many on here who put their pride and joy anywhere near salt water. I know I don't.
I'll be fitting an anderson to the front of my 110 when I can find time to sort it out and the pennies for the cabling. 110 D250 SE HT

Looking at that photo that left hand contact appears to have all the silver plating removed and to be suffering from copper 'corrosion or oxidisation. Presumably left where salt water or spray could get at it?

Have not heard of anything like that in the 4x4 world. OK a Defender cab might get moist but not that moist and not in corrosive content. Personally I do not see any issues with using an Anderson connector on a Defender.


Their are genuine Anderson connectors, there are good quality high current DC connectors such as Rema and then there are the cheap copies. If tempted to buy the cheap copies have a good look at the contacts. On genuine Anderson connectors the contacts are smooth and silver coated. On the cheap copies the surface can be extremely rough, lumpy, pitted etc from new. This means that the actual contact area is much smaller and that arcing might occur in between the contacts which is not good news.

No need the North is flooded with second hand parts from Defenders apparently. If not it should be according to Landywatch.

Anderson leads are used externally for powering tail lifts on hgv's,exposed to all weathers, road spray and driver abuse,I would expect an anderson lead inside a Defender to last forever Pov.spec,ftw. 2006, 110,TD5.
