Speedo cable end size?
Hi all

I am trying to fit the square end of the speedo cable from my 1984 v8. 110 into the R380 from a disco that is now in my defender

My square cable end is 3.0mm
The transducer that I removed square end is 2.6mm end

Would there be different sizes? Spent a good hour today trying to get them to mate up with no luck.......

Any help is appreciated

I would say just pull out the plastic drive gear from the old V8 gearbox (that has the metal square drive flangey thing in it) and insert it into the R380/LT230.

However, you say a 1984 V8, so I'm assuming it's the 4 speed LT95? I haven't a clue as to whether the speedo cable is the same on those.
you may end up havng to buy a new cable to match the LT230 transfer box drive.

Jim - thanks, yes it is the LT95. I will see if I can pull that piece out first before I buy a new cable

Cheers

OK, so I removed the transducer and tried to plug my speedo cable in but it appears that it is a different size (the square hole in my R380 tranny (from a disco) is smaller than the square at the end of the speedo cable).

I purchased a new cable thinking it would fit but it this new one is also too big to go into the square that previously held the transducer.

Can anyone help share some light on what I am doing wrong?

- Disco R380 tranny small square speedo insert
- Defender speedo cable too big

Thanks
