I think the the window one could hold my phone and fit the other to hold the pad.

Think it will really make the 110 a mobile office. I've seen the pictures of Kens that's what I am aiming for I think. We have only had laptops before.

Whichever one you get, make sure you get one with a retina display, they're soooo much better for your eyes, much easier to read small print etc.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with a sim version. A wifi only version can be hooked up to a Bluetooth GPS receiver for mapping and if you need cellular data you can also tether the iPad to a mobile phone and use it as a wifi hotspot. That's exactly what I do with mine Thumbs Up 2015 90 XS CSW TDCi - Beautiful

I would purchase the cheapest iPad Air, you won't be disappointed, get the cellular version if you intend to use GPS or mobile data. As others have pointed out, GPS is not included on non cellular iPads and is needed for navigation apps to function correctly in the field.
Apple's own office apps are free and can open/edit/save most MS Office files included in email attachments.
FYI: MS Office for IOS can only open files, you must purchase an Office 365 subscription to edit and save.
Enjoy Thumbs Up

PS. If you don't get on with your iPad you can always sell it for almost what you paid for it, Apple stuff holds it value well.

Yeah was looking at a TV in John Lewis the price was good. But then saw it came with a 5 year warranty and free delivery. They really seem to be the place to get your electrical items.

Going for a 32gb with cell just can't decide what network.
3 offer a really good deal but are they any good.

I thought about tethering but struggle with battery on my phone as it is. Also find I often lose 3G while taking calls. One of the reasons to go for ipad is so I can access my work cloud anywhere.

So thanks for all the replies but has anyone got an ipad or othe tablet on 3 or should I just stick to EE?

I use data on 3 and EE. 3 is generally much better reception wise and data transfer rates are better most places we go, but it depends where you go really. I'd say try 3 pay monthly rolling contract, so you can ditch it and move to EE if it proves to be poor. Don't tie in for a long contract until you've tried it out.

IPads are great but I do prefer other devices. We have iPad mini, Samsung Tab 3 8.0 and a bevy of MS surface devices. My in car device is the tab on a Brodit angled mount. I wouldn't personally mount a full size iPad, I would mount the mini. I sometimes wish I had the tab 7" rather than the 8". It has GPS built in, but no data connection unless I tether it to my phone, but co-pilot satnav and anquet OS maps store data map files locally.

I also use OBDLX on it over Bluetooth.

I'm sure you'll get on great with the iPad Smile. Recommend Anquet and co-pilot for it (I have them on the tab iPhone, Anquet allows up to 5 devices, a mix of pc ios and android, osx in beta)

The ms surface looks a good piece of kit. Your try it for a month seems a good plan as 24 months is a long time if I don't get signal.

Will take a trip into town this weekend.

I'll take a look at co-pilot.

I use a 32GB iPad with retina display & got the GPS/SIM model.

As stated, you don't need a SIM installed to use the GPS. However. I did get 3 data only plan and it's works well, but I hardly use it...but handy when you do need it..Smile

I also use a Griffin case so it's relatively waterproof and damage proof when used in my Defender. Have a RAM mount fastened to an aluminium plate on the dash, doesn't vibrate at all.

I use Memory Map for green laning and CoPilot for road navigation. I also have View ranger and MotionX but not used much.

Cheers

Simon
