2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Tonga Green

How did LR make the 2.2 bonnet more soundproofed than 2.4?

MIght have been here but I read the 2.2 bonnet is more soundproofed by LR than the 2.4's was. How did LR do it, & is it as good as aftermarket soundproofing on a 2.4? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Stornoway Grey

Its not the bonnet but a plastic cover on the engine that distinguishes the 2.2 from the 2.4 in terms of accoustic embellishments. From what owners have said, however, the 2.2 is quieter anyway - plastic cover or not.

Think Dgardel was looking at fitting a 2.2 cover on his 2.4. Believe quite a bit of butchery is involved. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Maybe the DPF acts as a sound deadener...

and the various holes in the bulkhead where pipes and wires go through to the inside are sealed better in the 2.2
