South Africa 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Alpine White
Central Fixed Air Vents
I searched this site and surprisingly could not find any solution or even a mention of the central fixed air vents on a Puma.
I have A/C fitted on mine and when it blows it freezes your left arm (or right if you are the passenger) and there is no adjustment for them.
You can obviously adjust the round vents and they are not a problem, but does anyone know of a solution for adjusting these?
Obviously i could drape some material over them, I even considered duck tape but that would just look ugly Smile But I am looking for something that possibly clips over them and that can then be adjusted? Defender 110 "Huberta"

Yeah, on a long trip it does freeze your arm. But I am used to it now Wink --

You could blank them off internally quite easily and just rely on the round ones as a suggestion

Wouldn't that lead to condensation accumulating inside the dash and possibly leak onto wires/stuff and cause a short? --

Now that would be a nice mod...
Nice challenge to the sponsors and inventers out there! Those of you who have made dash mods, could try and get a solution/fix for that ? Very Happy If someone could get an OEM look a like fix I'd buy! Regards

I just used some tape to close the vents behind the dash and nothing is blowing, nothing is leaking. Of course someone may also invent a cap to close it nicely, but who gets a look at it?

Yeah I could easily close it, I guess I was hoping for a more sophisticated solution that somebody had already invented.
I am just surprised that none of the guys that make 1001 things to modify Defenders have not made anything for this one yet Smile Defender 110 "Huberta"

Closing the vents it's not an option for me... It freezes my shoulder in the summer but I believe the vents are needed...the round ones only are not enough in my opinion... Regards

Agree it blows straight at my right arm (but then we here do drive on the right side of the road Whistle , but my experience is with the fan on 1, and with the two controllable vents also open and blowing sideways upward, the flow from those center vents gets bearable. Don't think there is much more that can be done to this.
I am not really bothered, because I very rarely use the airco even in summer, most of the time I use the "Mexican airco" that comes standard with the Defender. Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Which would be fine if it just blew on them!
But as previously mentioned it needs all the vents to adequatly cool down the vehicle, especially when the outside temps start to soar!

Air con has never been required in a defender since 1947 what with the front air vents and the 5000 holes that came as standard . The biggest mistake LR made was to remove the iconic front vents and then have the cheek to inprint them to make it look as though they still existed , and all for a new dash look ? Personally i hate those 2 big frogs eyes air vents sticking up into the air dooing hee haw Censored all and im about to put nice back lit guages in their place .
