No Agreed Value Available in the Insurance Market
Just called Adrian Flux to update my policy based on some modifications which have been made to the Defender 110. The policy excesses went up a bit but there was no additional premium to pay, although the policy only has 1 month to go. I asked about including an agreed value to the current policy and was told that this was not possible to do at the moment due to an FCA review. The lady stated that she believed this was across the industry at the moment so cancelling the existing policy and taking out a new one with an agreed value was not an option. She suggested I ask if an agreed value can be placed on a new policy at renewal, by which time it may be available again.

Not ideal but does not look like there is any way around it. She had no idea when the FCA review would conclude.

Adrian Flux Renewal - Premium Lower than last year
Received my renewal from Adrian Flux for a 2013 Defender 110 commercial with a host of mods including a new pop top roof. The premium came in lower than last year at £411. They are still unable to offer an agreed value at the moment.

Called NFU mutual and described all of the mods. The underwriter decided that an increase in bhp due to the remap of around 25% was too rich for them and they would not quote. Bizarre......

I've just renewed with A-Plan, or Howden as they are now known, with an agreed value and agreed mileage for my V8 and it was £22 less than I paid last year Confused Cheers Ian

Strange to rebrand an insurance company with a name that clashes with a builders' merchant!

Called Howden for a quote after Hairy Dan confirmed he had renewed with an agreed value on their V8. The lady at Howden confirmed that they offered agreed values on policies and had not heard of any FCA review preventing them from being sold, so no idea what AF are talking about.

Anyway, I went through the process and my quote was referred to underwriters at KGM for a specialist day van policy. The 110 has several mods including a remap, bigger intercooler, SS exhaust, pop top roof and side storage lockers. Apparently the Land Rover Defender is 'not an ideal fit' for day van policies so they would not cover. I was offered a policy with a 'standard' provider but it came in at £1093, more than double the AF renewal.

Looks like I will be staying with AF for now and will be giving them yet another call to ask about agreed values as there is nothing on their website saying that they have been suspended.

Just renewed mine with Peter Best. Limited mileage, agreed value £260. That’s with 11 year’s ncd. Previous company ( brentacre ) wanted £405, no agreed value. Modified vehicle too.

To be fair, in my experience, this seems to be pretty standard with AF...

They've been a great go to for me, but I quite often feeling like all I'm doing by getting insurance with them is fulfilling a box ticking exercise before actually going out and driving. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Thanks MarkBrown. I have never heard of Peter Best but will give them a shout.

Ianb - I know what you mean. I was put on hold each time I asked about agreed value, and the person had to 'go away and check'.

Nor had I, but found their advert in a Landy mag, with a photo of a Land Rover, so thought I’d try them. Their on-line quote was £142 for a standard vehicle, so much better than what I’d had before.

Wow! That's an amazing quote Mark. I'll have to keep them in mind! I know areas/mods etc can dictate prices etc, but no harm in trying I guess. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html
