I agree. My ‘next one’ is definitely going to be VDO.

I couldn’t afford one (false economy…) when mine packed in a few years ago and I bought a ‘cheap one.’

I’m tempting fate now so I won’t say it - but it is VERY noisy and has been since day one.

I’ve already bought my circular marine hatch/cover to install the inspection/maintenance hatch (as and when…) as when the time comes I am NOT going to drop the tank (again). I’d rather lick dog wee off nettles…

I know exactly what you are saying I did exactly the same thing, two Allmakes pumps later and the penny (or many many many pennies) finally dropped. Not had a problem since the VDO pump has been fitted.

Well if and when you come to do the pump swap and you do not have one drop me a line and you can borrow the pump retaining ring tool Thumbs Up

I’ve just upgraded to a 120 litre fuel tank, also changed the pump, old one worked fine but daft not to replace it when a new tank is going in.

my td5 now takes 3 attempts to start, it fires straight away but stumbles for a second or 2 before stopping, fine on 3rd attempt and once running is perfect all day until next morning, changed injector loom as small amount of oil showing, injector seals, air flow meter. nothing has made any difference.
2004 td5 , 75 k miles. do you think it might be pump ?
