Turbo seal kit
I have a contact with Land Rover service, here in Germany. He noticed gray puffs of smoke from exhaust. He said, based on color and smell, it was most likely caused by turbo blow by and I should have the CHRA looked at and to have the turbo seals replaced. He recommended I do the work myself as it is pretty straightforward.
I have looked at seal kits online, but I am not sure what kit I need as they all have various degrees of components.
The Defender has 173,000km.
I would be grateful for any recommendations on a complete turbo seal kit.

I think the seals your mechanic is referring to are the internal oil seals around the centre bearing in the turbo housing itself. I've never seen these advertised for a TD5, but a Turbocharger specialist might be able to source them.

When the central seals wear, the turbo can suck oil from the bearing feed under vacuum conditions which leads to burning the oil in the exhaust and smoke. Can also cause coking if it's run for a long time in that condition. 2003 TD5 110 CSW

DefenderCan, thank you.

I’m wondering what is the purpose of this kit? https://ebay.us/m/NlvQmU
If I end up replacing CHRA, is there another seal kit? I’m guessing the CHRA will come with them, but not sure. Thank you again.

Those seals are for when you remove the turbo from the manifold etc and then refit. 1999 Defender TD5 110
