300tdi Fuel Pump - Any Tuners in Surrey/London/SE England?
Hi All

I have just had a new timing belt fitted to my Defender 300tdi.
Whilst doing so, the mechanic had a problem with the fuel pump.
It’s running again OK now, but I would like to get it properly tuned again, to reduce some smoke.

Does anyone know of any good tuners in the south of England?

Many thanks - James.

Did they say what the problem with the fuel pump was? You don't really touch the pump or fueling settings when changing a TDI timing belt so I wonder just what has happened here?

Hi

He said when the old timing belt was removed, the pump 'jumped' inside.

Whilst going OK now (once warmed up) after a pump specialist attended, it definitely needs a retune, as it is not as it was before.

I've tried numerous web searches, but it's all ECU remappers these days...

Any hints to who might still have that pump tune capability would be very grateful received.

Many thanks - James.

'Pump jumped' sounds like they didn't fit the locking/timing pin before removing the belt and the pump moved off it's position due to cam/spring pressure. That shouldn't be a huge issue except sounds like they don't really know what they are doing! This is basic Haynes manual stuff.....

I would get it booked into someone who knows landrovers of that age and ask them to recheck the belt timing. There is no good reason for it to be running any worse after a belt change unless they got something wrong.
