110/90 steering shaft upgrade?
I need to replace the steering shaft uj’s on my 110 and I’ve seen that bolt on bits advertise an upgrade. This looks like a td5 item but may not be. Has anyone done this? How is is better? Is it even better at all? What’s wrong with the standard one? Thanks! 1983 110 automatic OM606

I would stick with the original one as both top and bottom joints are replaceable, unlike the Td5 / Puma type which only has one replaceable joint, the second is integrated into the shaft and requires the shaft to be replaced.

I always thought the later shaft was a downgrade!

I also have my own opinion of Bolt on Bits!!!

Wasn't the later shaft designed with the shear pins in it, so if you had a front end smash the steering column/wheel didn't get pushed up into your face?

The earlier shafts have a slip joint in them to achieve the same end.
