Enabling 'Towing Pack' Features
Hello all!

I've found a pre-owned 110 that has everything I want except a tow hitch.

The dealer has quoted £3,500 to fit the JLR OEM electrically deployable tow hitch to it.

I asked them if it is possible to enable to software options for Advanced Tow Assist, All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Terrain Response 2, Configurable Terrain Response - which are part of the Towing pack on the new builds for only £2285 (including the tow hitch).

They gave me a flat 'no'. Is this because it's technically not possible? Or this just isn't something the dealerships do?

I've seen these features advertised on 3rd party 'coding' sites.

Cheers!

Ahh the tow bar issue.

Dealers will not help. They will install a towbar but at a far greater cost than factory fit. They will not activate software.

If you have a dealer fit towbar you will pay a lot more than factory fit, but can then activate whatever you want aftermarket at a reasonable cost.

If you fit an aftermarket towbar it is much cheaper but you have to make sure they fit the correct LR spec module - otherwise, although you can activate the software features, they will not interact with the towbar.

It is an absolute mess. JLR are resolutely unhelpful.

My towbar was ordered on the configurator, six months later it arrived at the dealer without it. When I asked, they said they are not fitted at the factory, dealer fit only.

That's interesting. I was under the impression that ordering a towbar prebuild was so much cheaper than post build dealer fit because they don't have to dissemble the car to install it as it is done on the production line.

I have changed my mind at the last minute and added the tow bar package though the dealer to be a part of my original factory build, mainly for the resale value (and to use the tow bar as a parking protector).
The dealer can surely add the tow bar after the delivery, but it will cost more and the can not ( will not ) activate the additional software features…
