 2003 Defender 110 Td5 G4 Challenge Tangiers Orange
Friday afternoon tinker time and the arrival of the stub axle and timken bearings meant I could get most of it back together. I was just about to ask my wife to assist with brake bleeding when I spotted to the ball joint gaitors were split. So, instead or @rsing around with old rusted threads, I’ve cheated and gone for the HD stuff that should help expediate the job when they arrive.
And yes, I am going to tidy up the surfaces and protect with buzzweld!

Hurrah, it’s back together as I found some new ball joints in my stash.

However, I’ve ballsed up somewhere along the path back fixed. Steering lock is now much better one way than the other and the wheel isn’t straight.

I did remove both ends of the rod from the steering arm to the neariside hub to check the ball joint.
This involved removing the clamp from the steering damper but I was careful to get it back into the same position.

Any ideas what I’ve done wrong?
