I think I have a bit if lift in my transfer box front output shaft bearing, any tips on changing it before I start? DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

They are a single ball race bearing, they do have some slight up and down/ side to side play from new

thanks oldowner, I took the shaft off and then couldn't find anything wrong with the Transfer box, greased the shaft put it all back together with new nuts and bolts, will ignore it for a bit and see what happens DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I had play recently and presumed it was the bearing, but it turned out to be a loose nut. Now the grinding noise above 55mph has gone! LR Workshop

When I rebuilt a t/box some time back, I fitted a new front bearing and it had just as much play as the old one.
