Ok, that answers b) - incompetent dealer, not unplausible ![]() What about a) - how did/do you drain the oil? There is no drain plug and the ABS sensor is on the top of the hub (the obvious solution, turning the axle upside down was already suggested ![]() You could use an oil pump maybe, but your orignal post confused me re the draining. |

I wonder if they removed the sensor in order to fill the hub to the top, and then refitted it incorrectly. You can never tell, and Aston Martin technicians will likely not be familiar with old school landrovers.

Just drain your axle/diff casing..you will likely wonder why its so full / overfull..I certainly did..🫣🤣..
I don't think the sealing is that effective .. I just re filled with grease and until I do my front axles I most probably have a rather fluid grease in the housing..😳 On the foxwell question.. that model is no longer supported, but they will have an updated model.. But any half decent scan tool with the option of European makes will likely fo the same job |

I’ll probably use a vacuum pump to drain as much as I can from the hub and stick in some one shot. I’ll have a chance to check the rings then. I also need to check the diffs and transfer box to make sure they have the right oil one way or another.
I’ve ordered a Foxwell NT680 plus as that can read live values and steering angle sensors. I work on other cars as well so it would be a benefit too. If this doesn’t fix the problem I’ll invest in the NCom03. Speaking to specialist LR garages it’s a fairly known issue ranging from faulty ABs units both Bosch and Wabsco, to steering angle sensors, wiring and wheel sensors. The vehicle thinks it’s working correctly or it would flag a fault light so it’s just a case of ticking off each item. The ABS modulator is the most expensive bit but only £200 exchange if I’ve found the right bit. First job reluctor rings and sensors. Wonder if they over filled the diff because the seals had gone which filled the hubs as well, is this likely or possible with 60k miles? |
