Hi there. I had my 2.2 Puma from new in 2015. The sump pan was rusted in 2 years while the rest of the underneath was perfect. The warranty did not cover this so I was told. Either way I didnt want another one fitted by a dealer to simply rust again. So I purchased a new sump from the dealer and had it professionally re painted and fitted it myself. That was 7.5 years ago and it’s still in perfect order. There was no gasket. The special sealer adhesive came with the new sump. Removing the old sump was tricky due to the adhesive. But if you take care it’s not too bad. 2015 90 XS Santorini Black

I bought a.replacment sump after my original rusted badly, I was.concerned it was going to start leaking. I bought Britpart or Bearmach cheap replacement, but I prepped, primed it and painted it with Buzzweld CIO. It still perfect 8 years later. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Lots of thanks. Yes, I may buy a new sump made from that cheap sort of steel and 'give it a shot of DIY paint. This is a good option.
1...2 layers of zinc based coating 1...2 layers of PU paint to spray from the outside. I'just a bit scared if it then rusted on the edge where a visual inspection cannot be performed I was looking for an upgraded part. Better alloy. No options of that kind ? |
