by the time we get 10 the snow would have past and we will be in summer again best one in my opinion is the blanchard one on ebay or a slightly cheaper option is the fiber glass one but i am not keen on the shape at the air flow piece

Fibreglass one is just fine ... and much cheaper! Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Buy a genuine military one LIKE THIS and a tin of paint in the colour of your choice. It will do exactly the same job for about £60 less. I see a lot of gear varying a lot in quality and a lot in price.
Gear I have seen includes home made gear varying from superb well engineered pieces to items which looks like the holes have been cut out with a stone axe. Then there is the guys who rip off materials from their boss, uses the bosses welder, often made in bosses time, no product insurance, no vat, no business rates, variable quality undercutting genuine businesses! Even putting good companies out of business! Then there are businesses ripping off other businesses products, use metal half the thickness, welds like chicken , with a bit of paint thrown on rather then a proper finish. Then you get good quality gear, which is well made and fit for purposes. One thing I have noticed is that GOOD QUALITY GEAR rarely comes cheap. If you want cheap tat just be sure you can afford to pay for it, and pay for it again and again. Brendan PS For the folks on here who appreciate good gear, I apologise for my rant, If anyone wants the Entreq version drop me a pm and I will see what I can do! |

Yeah but.....£120 for what is essentially a curved rectangle of sheet metal? Do come along.
In raw material alone, compare it to something like the WestMids steering guard which is around the same price. Pound for pound you get a shed load more metal from WestMids, and the manufacturing processes are probably more involved as it's heavier gauge steel and includes threaded parts. Also has to be rated too. I just cannot see that a vent cover comes in realistically at over £100. |

i appreciate the skill and time aswell as all the other "hidden" costs. inovativite ideas and products are great but they must be within reach of the customer.
Engineering has unfortunately been de valued over the years, unless your in it, no body understands or wishes to pay for the time, skill and equipement required and don't mention PROFIT F.F.S ask me how i know! ill be buying some ,Entreq, Nak and GMB gear soon. . |

development time costs? out sourcing laser cutting, folding, rolling of materials. welding then powder coating? then distributors discounts? then tax, vat, shipping and finally PROFIT?! I agree with the total cost is high for what it is, but so is the Mantec stuff IMO you make a product, what are your overheads? |
