Most interesting Event ?
Hi everyone,

I participated the Gaydon Land Rover Show in 2008, 2018 and 2023 for the 60th, 70th and 75th anniversary.
The first two times it was amazing, last one was a bit disappointing.

Now, from mid of 2024 I'll be in early retirement, with more time for joining LR shows ...

What is in your opinion the most interesting LR show un UK ?

Peter

What aspect interest you about shows?

Something slightly different perhaps.

the question is legitimate,
I'm interested in:
exhibition of LR defender / series from 1948 - 2015 (with rare conversions and modifications).
Get in touch with other LR owners and talk about the vehicle and car technology.
It would also be good to be able to buy spare parts.
drink a few beers and be social.
No rally or trail event.

I have heard that there is a world record attempt at Market Harborough this year (spring time I think). I don't know the details or if it is a good event etc, but maybe someone else can add info?

I'd be after info on similar events (as you described - not rally or event meets). The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

Sorry, this is not a very positive post but I have found that the larger events are nowhere near as good as they used to be.

I think any show that has monster trucks in the main ring as 'Land Rover owner entertainment' are not really in touch with the Land Rover community. The food and booze is really expensive and pretty poor. There just seems to be less exhibitors (both trade and clubs) attending and the price just keeps going up.

For me, I think the small shows and events that sometimes pop up on here a lot more interesting to attend.

That's just my take on it.

Sounds like a fair comment Rashers. At the risk of turning those small events into something bigger, any suggestions/recommendations?

I know the Landrover group gathering world record thingy in May this year will have some folks from a club we bumped into on our travels that said they're going to it as a club. But I don't know much else about it other than that. The Yeti - 110 Camper https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic90308.html

I think the one at Stonham Barns near Ipswich in Suffolk was well liked by those that attended.

I’m sure there was another down near the south coast. Hampshire maybe. Someone help me out!

I had always tried to attend LRO when it was at Peterborough. The last one I went to was very disappointing and expensive for what it was. Didn’t go to the one last year so can’t comment, but it doesn’t seem to be run by enthusiasts rather than an events company trying to make a fast buck.
