ECO mode
l don't suppose anyone has worked out a way to modify the software so the Defender defaults to ECO mode on startup, rather than COMFORT.

Nope but it’s awful in that mode 🤣 MY25 90 D350 X-Dynamic HSE in Silicon Silver and coil sprung
1974 Series 3 Lightweight = "Millie"
Many Range Rovers and Land Rovers over the years 😂
1949 80" - still in family since 1975

For driving in town, between customers houses l find it the smoothest and it also saves fuel. On longer runs the default "COMFORT" setting is better as you suggest.

you can by editing the CCF (using GAP tool or other).
what you are looking for is
MultiCAN-562 "ECOProgMode
Available for selection with timeout"

change it to "ECOProgMode
Available for selection without timeout"

Your car will restart with that mode if you had used it last prior turning the ignition off.

I am rather suspicious of these driving modes. It's quite simple for the manufacturer to tweak the throttle and gearbox responses so that ECO mode basically means 'light on the throttle' and early shifting rather than some sophisticated fuel map.

Was driving a rental car the other day and in ECO mode it was more like the throttle cable (which it does not have of course) was slack and only catching with the pedal fully on the floor. I could get the same fuel economy with just gentle driving.

It's basically a placebo effect.

Ah I'll give this a try too! In the V8, eco mode is much nicer around town - the standard throttle response is quite racey Cheers, David
Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8.

Well, it worked on my 2022 90. Thank you "Cheshire110" for the information.

"the standard throttle response is quite racey" Yes it can be even on my D250 when you're just driving round town you don't need it.
