What's wrong with stop/start?
The engine running at traffic lights/in traffic isn't great for air quality or the pocket, and unlike the early days the lag is almost gone. I like brake hold, although not too keen about how it comes on in this defender. needs more of a defined press than other JLRs
Auto stop start, i just accept it - its a pain at times, its ok at times What is annoying is the car safety feature (thanks whoever sued JLR in america) that the car likes doors shut, seat belt on, a small sample of blood otherwise it puts the car in park. Which is a real pain when you need to open gates or move around something on a farm. etc Mike |

Get one of these dog seat belt things and use either of the square seat belt inserts.
It means that you can get in and out and do what you need to do without having to put the seat belt on and off.

For me the ‘must have’ modifications have been:
- BFG AT tyres - fit and forget and I’ve never worried about punctures or getting stuck off road since. With all the tech assistance too it just makes off roading too easy. - GAP tool to turn off stop/start and seatbelt reminder - makes using the car in the real world (especially when off road, or launching boats, towing & hitching trailers etc) just so much easier - devon 4x4 rock sliders - again just so much more peace of mind when off road (or even just manoeuvring through London’s 6’6” width restrictions!) - genuine rubber mats throughout - not that glamorous but they are bloody well made and contain all the dirt and water you bring into the car with you Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Most useful - shutting off the seatbelt alarm. Had it looked up already before delivery of the car.
Just takes 10-15 times to insert the belt buckle with ignition on. No GAP tool required for this middle console storage tray being the second most useful. most useless - rear roof spoiler. But damn, it looks good 
next is some additional lights. |

Does the belt buckle alarm stay off after doing that, or do you need to do it every time you get in?

Never heard the alarm again. There was some youtube instruction about it - ignition on, keep the seatbelt button pressed and insert the buckle until you hear a "ding". Also worked on friend's range rover.

The seatbelt alarm stays off permanently, same on the Freelander. I can't quite remember but the 10 times within a minute might need redoing if you have disconnected the battery, but other than that it stays off. Visitor - Freelander owner

Has anyone been the guinea pig and found out what soft, zip up, nylon bags fit in the rear door pocket? I'm thinking Maxpedition, 5.11, etc.
I've tried the Maxpedition Fatty Pocket (  ) and due to over stuffing it, and making it live up to its name, it is too thick. |

Best mod we have done on our P400 is the rear brake caliper swap (D5 OEM apparently) and
fitting decent 18” wheels and Falken Wildpeak tyres.. bye LR OEM 19” wheels and Goodyears AT adventures (Swiss cheese sidewalls variant) yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |
