No contact yet from JLR for my Feb 23 built 90 but a friend with a July23 built 90 X-Dynamic SE has been contacted Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

I received a letter from Land Rover about this, subsequently my cars booked in for the update in a couple of weeks time. |

I understand that JLR are belatedly offering security updates to all pre 2022 vehicle models with keyless entry.,
The cynic in me says that the JLR aren't doing this for customer satisfaction points but to repair their  poor reputation for easily stolen vehicles that now due to insurance costs and flat out refusal to even insure their products, people are leaving JLR for good.
JLR cannot rely on repeat sales from the unfortunate sod walking back to the dealership and asking for a replacement vehicle of the same spec. They made that rod for their own backs and the current situation is more an omission of failure and contempt for the consumer on their part. Lets face it, they certainly didn't give a flying in regards to Classic Defender thefts, and still don't. |

Yep, had it fitted in January. I had it so that I can start it on the remote for pre-heating/cooling but it stalls when taking out of park. It’s easy to use and flexible in terms of your ‘pin code’ ie the buttons sequence to disable. Really happy with it. Recall it was c£450 fitted at home. No subscription- fit and forget, almost. See today’s announcement. Dressing things up to be a good new story rather than to recognise their abject failure for years when it comes to security! Hopefully the tide is turning but whether the insurance companies will share that optimism is another thing…

The problem JLR must be facing is that folks won't buy their cars NEW, if they can't get them insured OR can't sell them on in the pre-owned market.
I've heard stories on here of folks cancelling their orders when they find out the cost of the insurance. |

Insurance is crazy, it’s gone up naturally then gone up because of jlr
I got a quote ahead of my renewal last month, £250 more, then as I went to renew 3 weeks later it’s gone up 550 There are no changes I heard jlr used values are dropping quickly because of it and a few other things that aren’t good Mike |

Ghost on the BMW for me. Had it installed within a few days of buying the vehicle.
Its on a gearbox "lock" out due to the hybrid. If you don't put the pin in and put it into gear it switches off. Works well but sometimes catches me out as you need to wait a few seconds for the car to energize the buttons after turning the ignition on |

The other problem LR must have is that all their cars are big, heavy and diesel is not really an option anymore nowadays and probably even less so in the future. There seems to be a vendetta against Diesel vehicles going on. Petrol is not really an option because of fuel consumption and all electric options are even more expensive and also not that fantastic on big heavy (now even heavier) cars.
We have also created a society with a lot of anxiety about the future of motoring and I don't know I would want to buy any expensive heavy big car which might face some sort of ban or additional tax which would reduce the car value dramatically. Different in the US or Middle East, but in Europe? |

The Land Rover website article says vehicles built from 2022 onwards have latest security. My new 110 was built in march, this year. I had the letter and have presumably had the update when I took the car to the dealer for the update. However, I only took 1 key and they never said anything?
why would I have had the letter if cars from '22 onwards have the latest security? |

My car was in for a service on Monday. I took both keys in just in case but they said I had the latest security. Mine is an Oct 2022 MY23 D250. Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

My car was built in May this year. I had the security update applied today, took about twenty minutes and I had to provide both keys.
