I was reading through all the positive replies and thinking that this is absolutely in line with what we have been seeing as GAP Diagnostic. Then came the reply above - but after reading through the post, it also simply reaffirms what we have been seeing and hearing from our users, our own experiences and the internet and media (the only true sources of information Whistle ).

Mechanically LR has had some missteps in the past decade or 2 starting with the GM 5L40E trans in the TD6 L322 RR or the larger versions of the TDV6 in the D4 as the OP mentioned to the 4 Cyl TD engines originally introduced in the L663. But in general, these have not been more or worse than with any other major manufacturer.

Electronically... let's just say the 90's were the absolute low point and the early 2000's the recovery period. But since the 2010s, LR has been much better. LR has had 3 things going against it on this front:
1. LR has consistently offered more /more cutting edge electronics than most other large manufacturers
2. JLR, as it is smaller than most other automobile manufacturers, does not have the same development budget as a Toyota or VW or even BMW
3. JLR's aftersales (service, parts, etc) is marginal to pitiful. Were it not that way, we (GAP) would likely not exist. It starts with their pricing structure (to paraphrase a 70's rock star: can I have everything more expensive than everything else) and goes to the training of their technicians and the quality of dealership staff.

As a small manufacturer you CAN offer cutting edge software / hardware that, unlike a Daimler Benz or a Toyota offering will not have the bejeezus tested and developed out of it, but you MUST make up for it in service. And if you do, people will probably like you even more than the cookie cutter "big guys". If you have issues as a smaller manufacturer and try to counter those by ignoring and disavowing (all with a nose-up-nasty-haughty attitude) you will be disliked. See the post above.

LR's problems generally are not on mission critical systems (the previous poster being the exception that proves the rule). But if all the gorgeous little systems that differentiate a LR from a Pajero/LandCruiser/etc fail all the time AND force you to deal with dealership staff who deserve a swift kick in the ...., you might as well drive one of the above.

I'll hop back off my soapbox now. Sorry. I'd have a LOT to say about this. IMO there are some people at JLR who seriously deserve a swift kick...

But in general, a LR will get you home. Land Rover's bad rep on quality is not justified.

I’ve had my 110 p300 for just over 2 and a half years, 30,000 just come up. Used every day mainly as a van, in and around London. Fits all my crap, tools etc in boot, which is sometimes opened 20 times a day (never had low battery warning) my wife drives it wk ends to visit family on longer drives and often gets 30mpg. Recently, we literally drove it up a thousand foot mountain on a friends farm in wales, 6 of us crammed in, no track to follow, done it easily. Had a few issues with Pivi at beginning, and a few creeks from door seals (they seem to have settled now) but over the air updates sorted it. Apart from that it’s been faultless. Easily Best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I change the oil and filters every 8 to 10000 miles, and only use premium fuel, can’t hurt. Hopefully I’ve not cursed it!

Issues with 4 cylinder
Hi, I have 70 plate 110 se bought sept 2020, the 4 cylinder variant and have had a number of fairly major issues, thankfully all under warranty.

1. Turbo blown - 2.5 years
2. Injectors failed, seal failed - 2.5 years
3. Both front light modules failed - 2 years
4. A frame pillars replaced
5. Air compressor failed
6. Front seat staining, replaced under warranty
7. Plus a number of other issues with pivi pro

I have put all these down to poor quality control on the first models coming out in 2020, currently in talks with JLR about a way forward. It’s an amazing car but these are not small issues and not good enough from a car that less than 3 years old and cost circa 65k.

Cheers

I know it’s not an excuse for a car that expensive but the old rule of „don’t buy when a new model gets freshly on the market“ still counts. Big companies don’t reward early adopters. Sadly.

So, I am not the only one with injector failed Laughing

Sorry about the problems, but JLR resolve the issues in your case @nickp.

Currently, my car is somewhere in 'pending without resolution zone' Laughing

D200 (3 liter engine) 110, base model, 2021, now close to 48,000 miles. No issues at all, apart from the remote app not working properly the first few months.

Have you escalated the case to LR Romania? Dealers are just the last link in the chain...

Already done that!

There is no JLR Romania, just a certified importer -> Tiriac AUTO.

The local dealer is super ok, try to resolve the problem, but there is no answer from JLR UK or Europe...I don t know.

We try our best here, but seems that JLR don't care about post service parts.

OFF record, JLR sold the entire Range Rover production on 2024...so...he just don't care.

99% is the first and the last car from JLR.
I Have a BMW X5, VW Touareg 7p, and a lot af history with the mentioned brand, but the JLR is the worst.

We will see...!

Only 6700km on the MY23.5 P400SE but no issues so far that I'd consider as a reliability one. Been back to the dealer once to check rear bumper fit up.

Had a MY11 D4 SDV6SE 3.0, did 120,000km in that and that car always got us home. Whilst we owned it, it had the following 3 issues:
-both turbo chargers replaced within 2 years of each other, this was with over 160000km on the car, one covered under warranty, the other one I had to pay for.
-injector fault that put the car in limp mode,(a software update sorted that one).
- throttle body inlet o ring failure, loss of boost pressure.

The rest was just regular and preventative maintenance, I changed out the LCAs and EAS struts at 200,000km as they were tired by then.

I've always found LR to be reliable, and our local dealer (Perth WA) very capable and service oriented. That was one of the main reasons to order the L663.

Dare I 'say' it out loud, but 55000 miles on my 2020 p400... both headlights replaced under warranty and a small coolant leak that I cant find (which likely means its in one of the side auxiliary radiators)...other than that nothing but maintenance. Oh, and first rear brake pads last week.

I didn't know that the seat staining was a warranty item, but I covered them with some M&M covers so can't see them anyway. 2020 SE First Edition

19,000 miles since October 2022. Only issue was software in first two weeks and then its been boringly reliable.

Biggest issue though was the damage caused by the supplying dealer to my roof. Rolling Eyes Eiger Grey MY23 D250 SE with bits. Known as Noddy.

My D250 continues to be 100% reliable mechanically and still hasn’t needed to go into the dealership for anything to be looked at. I envisage that the next visit to them will be in March 2024 when I’ll take it in for an oil and filter change and maybe I’ll treat it to the 2024 rear seats and boot mods now available as an “accessory” to make it a bit more practical to load up. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!
