Screw in Tyre - is it worth repairing?
I picked up a screw in my nearside front tyre and now have a slow puncture.

I'm getting it replaced today by Tyres on the Drive as I dont have time to take it to a shop.

the screw is just off centre.

I was wondering whether its worth keeping the tyre for an additional spare and getting it repaired in slow time or getting them to take it away.

the tyre has done about 7k miles. Defender D250 HSE

As long as the puncture is in the centre and less than 6mm diameter then it is legally deemed to be safe to repair. If it meets the above criteria then it is your decision whether you want to drive on a repaired tyre or not.

I recently had a puncture on my Mini Countryman and had it repaired to get me going but have since ordered a new one "just to be on the safe side". I think my life is worth more than £150 Defender 90XS SW

If it’s repairable then repair it. We have to many tyres going to landfill that have life left in them and were safe to repair.

Don’t waste our natural resources or your money necessarily Thumbs Up Ride like you stole it!!

Definitely repair …

Technology massively improved for repairs in last 10 years.
Tyre centres have strict protocols to ensure safety.
They wouldn’t put you back on the road if there was a future lawsuit possibility.
I’ve had tyres repaired and they have gone on to fulfil normal lifetime

Clemmo Thumbs Up Make today a little better than yesterday but not so good as tomorrow....

thanks for all the replies.

I'll take it to the local tyre shop in the next few weeks then.

I would be happy with a professional repair at all speeds and loads for the remaining life of the tyre.
