What and why..??
Hello,
I'm getting so fed up with this Censored vehicle....

I thought I'd start the weekend off nice and easy by replacing the dash speakers.
Passenger side was straightforward but when I removed the drivers side speaker something that looks like a cross between a block connector and a relay fell out along with a bridging wire...

Any ideas what this is and which terminals the frig wire should be in..??
I'll need to make a new wire as the existing terminals are far too small.

There is also a spare, bare wire hanging down. Again, any ideas gratefully received.... 😊

Block connector is the base for the dim dip relay which has been bridged out. If you search for dim dip relay bridged out you will find which way it should be bridged out - it is a very common mod to remove a useless function that often goes wrong and is no longer required. The base should clip to the bulkhead on a relay clip just above the dash speaker

Bare wire is the aerial for the 10AS alarm / central locking from memory, and is just left as is.

There is quite a bit about the 'dim-dip' isn't there..?? 😁

One last question - would my Utility have an alarm..?? It doesn't have central locking or any other niceties - it lives up to its name.. 2002 Land Rover 110 Td5 Utility

It's ok - found the info...
All Td5 Defenders have a 10AS alarm module of either a basic 270 or a more advanced 280 model.

270 - which I must have won't control Central Locking and is 'disabled' in the case of mine.

That's what I've read anyway.... 👍👍👍 2002 Land Rover 110 Td5 Utility
