Individual Steps Vs side rails?
Hi all. Aware this might be largely an aesthetic and personal preference but has anyone fitted 4 individual side steps Vs the long side rails? and how do they feel about the difference. I have 3 small kids so I need something…
Poll added for some fun.
Thanks Ed.

A long rail provides better protection from door damage in car parks, provided they are high enough (the main reason why I have rock 'n' tree sliders).

I voted for side rails - as said can offer side protection from car doors, will generally not catch on anything if you are green laning or off roading, and mostly because they are easier to keep looking neat and tidy. Euro-Leafing to infinity and beyond.....

I have a small kid, and he uses the side (rail) steps. Otherwise only useful in car parks as mentioned by Blackwolf. Offroad easily get hung, and I actually slightly bent the sill, as thats what they attach to.

For my early 90, thats gonna get proper sliders. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

I changed from the long tubular steps to four individual ones. They're slightly lower and have a bigger surface area and so work so much better as steps.

I did change all of the hardware for stainless equivalents, though.

Got best of both on mine....

Made some 3x2" box section to replace the sills (Galvanised), and then fitted standard LR drop down steps, which fitted a treat around the box.
