Hi folk
Decided to give the back of my chassis / rear frame a treat with the above product. I've always had "Something" to protect the road water / mud getting to the rear frame and protect the rear light cabling but I have to say fitting the above was a joy and feeling of satisfaction. They come as a pair and each pair have two pieces of hardish well shaped plastic complete with all clips, washers and screws. here's a couple of pics ... Love GL gear. Seriously practical with a heap of R&D gone in to the products. |

I bought almost all of the under body shields and am waiting for DHL to drop them off today.
I didn't get the ones for the front bumper as I have a custom front bumper on my truck. I got the hints my truck was giving me when I suddenly lost the front right mudflap and found the rear right one hanging by the bracket bolted to chases alone! Almost lost it! 
Will find the time to install hopefully before the holidays roll around. |

I had them on my old truck, they definitely did their job especially on the front outriggers.
My only complaint is the speed screw fixings, horrible things and I did notice one had fallen out at some point on my one. Not the best thing to have fallen onto a road
I swapped the fittings out for marine bass / rubber rivnuts and normal A4 grade bolts covered in antiseize with A4 grade washers as it was a much more secure fitting and you didn't have a speed screw going into metal / with a chance to fall out. The 2 part ones with the P-Clips (again awful things) I did the same and enlarged the holes and used the brass / rubber rivnuts. |

Great bits of kit and a fairly obvious upgrade if you have a chassis in good nick .
I opted for the stainless mudflap brackets with quick release fittings (for the rear), I replaced some the brackets maybe four years ago with powder coated jobs and they lasted all of two years before corrosion took hold. My only tip if fitting the GL rear mudflap brackets, is don't follow the instructions to the letter. I cut my mudflaps as instructed and realised that after fitting them there was absolutely no need and in fact now look a bit short an stubby . I should have left the length as they were . I suppose there's good reason for it as they're up out of the way, I have ripped one off a previous defender whilst reversing up a bank , that's not going to happen now ! They are very good and work well. An alternative if you’re tight like me is to make your own out of 3mm HDPE sheet. You can then make them longer too.

Yes really good. At the front they work well with their mudflap repositioning brackets. For the 110 the rear rear bracket I think could have been moved forward to align with the mudflap bracket so the whole rear end becomes a large cavity protected from mud which would then include things like exhaust hangers etc

Continuing on ... I began to fit the front one's (GL1010) this afternoon. Just the driver's side alone took over four hours to fit!
Basically the metal wheel arch was out of alignment with the bulkhead securing brackets so it took prybars and adjustments (various) to get it fitted. Now fitted ... I must say I'm very please with the protection it offers to the forward outriggers

Gwynn Lewis do some excellent products and having fitted these to mine I can vouch for them. It’s the little things they think about I like, for example, on my OME dampers he supplies, they come with shrink wrap plastic to cover the damper housing to prevent / delay the inevitable stone chips. I’m looking forward to fitting the wading kit next…

What size sheet did you get for that. I did actually consider making similar from galv sheet, but I think that hdpe will be easier to cut and handle, and obviously even less prone to corrosion. |

An 2m x 1m sheet was about £80 if I remember correctly. Enough material to do shields for the rear of the front arches and both front/rear of the rear arches.
