LOF clutch assist spring
I fitted the LOF clutch assist spring this afternoon, all pretty easy with cable ties and only took about 20mins. I noticed the existing spring was just hanging loose which was a bit odd as i never found the clutch particularly heavy.

Is it normal for the LOF spring to have a bit of initial slack/free play when pushing the pedal? Also is there any way of adjusting the actual clutch bite point a bit higher up? mines has always felt really low towards the floor.

Cheers
Mike

clutch bite point can be adjusted on the clutch master cylinder under the bunnet under the plate with the 6 screws, I think there is a set up guide on the LOF website if not the LR manual DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,

I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy

I think that drawing only represent earlier than tdci clutch pedal boxes. MY12 does not have an adjust screw for pedal height, but there is an adjust screw to limit how far you can push the pedal.
Completely opposite of what I have in my 1988 90 which is perfectly depicted by the illustration above. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Ensure that there is still clearance between the push rod and the master cylinder piston. This is because if you apply a bit of pressure on the piston, it shuts of the non return valve on the reservoir, and no new oil from the reservoir gets into the system to replace any lost fluid. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
