Billet Windscreen Blocks Recommendation
Morning all,
One of the things on the shopping list is a new pair of billet windscreen blocks. I don't want anything fancy looking so was thinking of the Britpart Whistle ones which actually seem good value. I have read that the anodizing is quite bad for fading on them however.

Does anyone have any recommendations for others to look at?

Cheers,

I've had Gore black anodized on since the first once decayed. After 5 years they still look good as new.
However, my Defender is kept in a garage, so no extended UV exposure and I've never used traffic film remover. Others may have different experience.

you can always paint to match over the anodised. Its what I did and still look like new.

I’ve got these in my watch list on eBay.

The seller uses a different finish to the anodised offerings so you don’t need a special wash to preserve them, basically fit and forget.

Take a look and see what you think. Thumbs Up

Might also be worth looking into?

Obviously there are different colours!

They also have near standard looking replacement blocks.

I have no experience of these - I removed mine, prepared them, etch primed and top coated them some years back. One is still great and the other is showing signs of oxidisation… Whistle

I'd second this. The key though, is to ensure that they're painted all over, which I think is what causes the problems with the existing.

You can see how I treated mine here:

I'm not sure about the window blocks from SC Engineering fitted with o'rings rather than gaskets. Is it possible to over tighten them, compressing the o'rings and then resulting in metal to metal contact between the block and frame thereby causing more corrosion problem? Defender 90XS SW

I'd be concerned about that, too. I made full size rubber gaskets for mine. Darren

Thanks all, I think the Gore ones look the best bet. Will go for plain anodised and get them painted when/if they fade.

Another + for the GORE window blocks, superb bit of kit. I have been waiting for the door hinges for years but they just never seem to be in stock Sad
