United Kingdom 2015 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Bronze Green
Front shock turret ring replacement
Could I use a spring compressor to provide enough clearance to remove the turret ring?
I don't have a lift so I'll be working on the floor with trolley jacks and axle stands.

You do not need to, no.

On the ground


    Chock rear wheels.
    Wheel off.
    Shock and turret out.
    Undo the bottom spring mount bolts.
    Jack up to get chassis high-ish on axle stands.
    Lower jack.
    Catch front spring as it falls out.

The most I have ever had to do is push down on the hub to be able to ease the spring and seat into place.

Then refit. Thumbs Up

If you haven’t already purchased a replacement, take a look at the YRM offering. Also worth considering the rubber spring isolators.

No you can get Old Man Emu isolators for the rear of a 110 or 130...

Can I ask what the isolators are for ??
Im planning a suspension refurb and have new oem springs and old man emu shocks ready waiting to fit as well as yrm turrets and hardware for fixings so should I also be considering these for my 90 CSW ?

So, all they are for is to separate the metal of the spring from that of the chassis. It stops clunks, some say it improves the ride and it does reduce the wear on the chassis mounts.

Most springs come with a thin rubber capping that does a similar thing, but the ones mentioned are thicker and should last longer.

That's about the long and short of it.
