Raised suspension when going through floods
We have a bit of water on the roads around North Herefordshire. My Defender decided to raise itself clear of the water. Took a pic to show how high it is compared to a T6.

It will also close the vent flaps in front of the radiator and activate the depth gauge if you select the Wade mode in the TR system Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Lucky you, having air suspension!

My 90 seems to sit quite low, but with the 90cm
maximum wading depth it's still going to be better than my old 110. l guess l won't have "wading mode" either on my base specification 90 Commercial so probably better to avoid deep Fords and river crossings

On coils it’s only 85cm, but the coil suspension is more than up to the job when the going gets rough. 23.5MY 90 D250 X-Dynamic SE, Pangea Green

There is also a super extended mode - see below which is useful when grounded . It’s not specific to the latest Defender as it was available from the D3 onwards :

Make sure the relevant warnings and cautions have been read and fully understood before adjusting the electronic air suspension.

Extended mode is an automatic suspension height setting that raises the vehicle to assist maneuvering in the event that the vehicle is:

Grounded in severe off-road conditions.
Lowered onto an obstacle.
Wading in deep water.
Driving in narrow ruts.
The instrument panel displays a message and the off-road indicator lamp on the front control panel flashes to confirm the vehicle is in extended mode.

Note: Extended mode cannot be selected manually.

The vehicle can be raised higher when in extended mode, if required. To further raise the vehicle:

1. Press and hold the brake pedal.

2. Press and hold the up button (3) on the front control panel for longer than 3 seconds.

I didnt make my self clear, I was pointing out that it automatically lifted above the the first lift and this wasn't extended mode when you can go up again as described. So by the looks there are another 2 lifts to go after it was shown in my pic. 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Mind went into extended lift mode whilst in town. By the time I pulled in to get a photo it went down again. It was ridiculous, people were actually looking at it wondering WTF lol

Is it clever enough to check for headroom above the vehicle before doing this? A flood under a low bridge, etc., could be unfortunate.

No it's not but I am, I wouldn't attempt to go under a bridge that had a head room less than 2.200m and was flooded. Having said that I probably would I'd lock it in access mode first Thumbs Up Rolling with laughter 130's have feeling's as well you know Smile

Yes my car has done this a couple of times when driving through fords, I wouldn't have classed the fords as deep enough to warrant raising the suspension but the car obviously thought it needed it Confused Cheers Ian

I don't fancy testing it, but apparently it's sensitive enough to avoid crushing someone working underneath it..
I guess it knows how much weight should be on all 4 wheels and when it starts to float, it tries to tip-toe.

This no longer works on our L663's , thanks to the SOTA - programmed out. No Mud flaps for my 90.!
