Headlight Gremlins
Hi, recently my 2.4 Puma has developed a strange gremlin. In cold weather, the car starts fine but the headlights won't come on, only sidelights. High beam doesn't work either. After +/- 1 km the headlights suddenly switch on. When engine is at normal operating temp lights switch on without hesitation.
Headlights are trucklite LED.
Any ideas?

I would also be interested to know what others have to say about this as my td5 does the same, not to hijack a thread, but what peaked my interest with this in particular is that you’ve got the same headlights as mine. I’ve changed both switches in the column and deleted the dim dip relay, They also seem to intermittently, after switching the lights on, have a second or two delay between when the switch is turned on and when the low beam comes on. This has previously led me to believe the headlights might have a fault, but i have yet to hear of anyone else with the same or similar symptoms with trucklites until now.
Have your lights behaved like this?
Fingers crossed someone has some ideas to help us.

While the headlights are in non-working mode, check the voltage on the headlight connector. This will immediately and definitely tell you if it is the lights or the vehicle at fault.

Thanks Blackwolf, unfortunately, when ever I’ve had spare time to test the lights, they seem to work properly. I managed a couple of hours investigation into this and a couple of other niggles that I’ve got on my other 110 and luckily (or unlucky I suppose) they decided to play ball when testing.
The headlight connectors aren’t getting any power when I get the symptoms. Unfortunately I think I may have to start tracing wires behind the dash and check for problems there. From what I understand there’s a header in the centre of the bulkhead, just above the fuse box that can cause issues like this, not particularly looking forward to that as it’s a bit of a pig to get at Banging Head

Any progress with yours pvl?

The usual fault is the light switch or the dip switch.

Accessing the header means stripping out the entire dash and is a major undertaking.

I haven't found the time yet, I think I'll start at the beginning by checking the light switch.
