To be fair, I would think old engine oil would do a good job, it's just that its messy and I don't like the smell. My dad used to use it in the sills and doors of his cars and it just wasn't a pleasant odour. But saying that they didn't really suffer too much with corrosion, so it did work.
With the amount of fluid film I used I wouldn't want to use the same amount of oil due to drips. Also this is getting sprayed over everywhere so it would mean every time I touched something I would get covered in black oil which would then get carried into the house too - not a good idea on the home politics front!!! But certainly cheaper!!! |
