Read door - glass fitting
Just got the new glass for the rear door (Early type with no external rubber seal) and also order a new set of fixings to go around the glass along with the rubber seal.

In my mind, I need to cut the rubber seal to fit between the glass and door frame.
Cut the rubber seal so the bottom piece runs across the bottom and the vertical pieces up the sides but the joins from the vertical will horizontal if that makes sense?

Maybe with a smear of sealant for good measure? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Hey I’ve just done mine and used 3M body caulk to fit the window and it worked great. I believe they were originally put in with dum dum but that’s no longer available. Only downside of the 3M stuff is it’s grey, but once you’ve got it tidied up you don’t see it.

I used this guide.

I found instead of doing the ruler trick he did is make sure you have the caulk right on the edges so when you push the window in it squeezes out. I then used a plastic scraper thing to trim the excess off neatly.

I was very happy with how it came out and it never sets so if you need to remove the window or anything you can do so with no horrible sealant to scrape off. I got the bossy caulk from woolies trim and 2 packs of 10 strips did the inside and out ok. I just stretched the strips on the inside so they were longer and thinner as the inside doesn’t need much.

Hope this helps!

Cheers for the video. I will take a look.
With the kit I got for fixing the window in came with the ally strips, screws and a length of rubber.
I will have to drill new holes for the screws as I am using a new door. 1999 Defender TD5 110
