Just read the blogs on the recovery, your wife’s writing is great, really captivating. Are you planning on documenting the rebuild?

Jim,
I'm glad all is well and in hand and that you are both safe 👍

Oh dear, just read the news. Big Cry I know I'd be having a very hard time remaining calm in such a claustrophobic situation. Well done. All the best with your and Henry's recovery.

It has certainly always been my feeling that for a heavily laden overlanding vehicle there is an almost overwhelming argument in favour of a full cage (as far as I can tell from your video Henri rolled slowly once, and it was the weight of the vehicle rather than pre-roll kinetic energy that did the damage).

I had however never previously considered the problem of combining a cage with a pop-top though, which on the face of it is an impossible combination. I wonder if anyone has managed to do this?

Anyway I hope the rebuild is successful and the adventure continues, perhaps with less excitement. I shall look forward to the "Henri reborn" video.

Good luck!

Hello Roger, yes having a pop top has its drawbacks. I’ve also thought about this & we are on the edge of our weight limit plus I’ve never seen a viable solution for a front cut away roll cage.

Though of that as well. I dont want to ruin this thread with technical details, so I created a new one:
pop-top compatible roll cages

Reading this and thinking how much worse things could have been. I am just wondering how they are faring financially with this. I know there is no doubt insurance cover but that could take awhile. Perhaps some cash is needed straight away. I'd be willing to help out if this was needed. I am sure others would too. Just enough to get sorted out until the insurance kicked in. What a kind thought! No insurance, so we will be paying for the repairs out of our own pockets. We took insurance out at each border but nothing covers the vehicle only 3rd party.
Outside Europe nothing covers the vehicle itself. Around the 25k mark for repairs & accommodation, such is life Shocked
