DROP A DEFENDER????
SO,

being a boy racer at heart, im looking to install -2 inch drop springs all around, speaking to the really helpful guys at extreme 4x4, they said to not go -2.5 inch as ill hit on the bump stops, what is everyones thoughts on it? ive got fox shocks to put on with them too! i know im going to get shouted at for lowering a defender and not raising it to heaven!

You have two options, air ride or custom springs.

Heres a few examples

-3 Lowering Springs

Air

Buy an Astra or some other boy-racer hatchback and leave the Defender alone! Rolling with laughter

There’s nothing wrong with lowering a defender, lowering more than 2” might make the ride a bit harsh and you will be getting close to hitting the bump stops.

I run at -1” for normal road use but with 3deg caster arms and it handles very well for a 2.5t brick albeit I am on air and not coil springs.

Sensible Hat On
If manly road use, accepting lower weight carrying, wanting higher corning speeds, then a permanently lower set up sort of 'makes sense', but I'd venture not for most or re-sale, air adjustability gets around this until it breaks...

Maybe a two car garage is required... SKIP

Had a Gdsm back in the day who was our Snatch Wagon driver in NI and a veritable petrol head. He had a very pimped Renault 5. On coming back from a long weekend away from camp I was passing him and asked him how his ‘project’ was coming along (he’d told me he was staying on camp over the leave period to do a major upgrade on his car) and he said it was complete but that he was disappointed. When I asked why, it was because he’d lowered it so much that he couldn’t get it off the drill square, let alone off camp (Pirbright) and out onto the open roads. Exactly as MarkB110 said, too many speed humps. Had to spend the following weekend lifting it back up again. Whistle Rolling with laughter Monsieur Le Grenadier

I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list.....

Is that 'rapid deployment ' or 'friendly fire', I'm not sure?

Lowering doesn't always mean harder or worse, Land Rover saw fit to lower the 70th Works cars about 50mm. IMO Tyre choice plays a great part in ride comfort, then again its also a Defender, 50mm up or down isn't going to change the fact its a massive tin can Laughing
