I am still bitter my age meant I had to take tests people a few months older didn’t have to take.

I don’t feel the removal has reduced the driving standard. There will always be good and bad drivers. Having done the tests driving at 51 on a motorway I suspect would result in a fail or minor point. I failed my first for going too slow.

Chugging about with our twin axle 3 horse trailer behind the Defender at 55ish mph over the weekend I was amazed at how many caravans wobbled past me at speed with occupants of an age when no test was required.

It has already struck me that the silly season for caravans is even sillier than ever this year.

The fact that so many modern cars are powerful enough to whisk your caravan up to 70 or 80 doesn't make it a good thing to do. Modern drivers seem to be completely out of touch with the basics.

Out of touch with the basics, yep they sure are….

Can’t indicate
Stopping in yellow box junctions
Stopping on the big white painted Keep Clear sign on the road
Not stopping behind parked cars to let the on coming traffic clear
And still using their mobile phones

The list goes on and on…….be careful out their folks…… Thumbs Up

Saw one better today.
Some hatchback/estate car, driving through the cutting near junction five, heading south.
Outside lane with a well loaded unbraked trailer. Over 70mph. Trailer skipping along, left and right!
I think they win this weeks prize!

^^^ Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Reminds me of the time I was in a bit of a hurry with the remapped 110 DCPU at an indicated 70+ down the A19 with my old 1989 Compass Rally GTE caravan started that side to side one wheel bouncing lark Embarassed

All fun and games until I blew a tyre and took half of the interior cupboard out Embarassed I learned a lesson that day that the time I’d have saved by going quickly didn’t offset the time it cost to change the wheel or the cost and time to repair the wheel arch and tyre.
