I’m trying to pull out the two sliding climate control knobs. These are the rectangular ones that select fan speed and fresh/recirc air. Trying to replace with optimil bits. I cannot for the life of my figure out how they com off to replace them.

Any help is appreciated I don’t want to break anything

Hi big110,

Maybe I can help you, I just made my slider control work again as it had melted.

There are guides how to remove the front panel in this forum.
When removed it should look like this:

There are 4 screws that hold the white structure in; remove them and take it out so you can see the back side. I managed to work without removing the cables for the heater controls.
The fan control is held in place with 3 small screws. Remove the connector on the backside of it and the 3 screws. A bit of fiddling and you should be able to slide it out.
In order to get the knob out you’ll have to open the 4 small plastic tabs (gently)
Then you can lift the cover off that reveals the whole mechanism.
Attention: a spring loaded ball holds the slider in its 4 positions.
Then it should be just to replace the plastic peace with your new one and reassemble.
For the air control you’ll have to try to open it. I’ve never had mine apart.

Thumbs Up
Just a side note, you know you can slide out the radio while its mounting frame remains in the panel? Makes handling a bit easier IMHO.
