Scotland 2004 Defender 110 Other XS DCPU Auto Bonatti Grey
My 110 DC Recovery/ Support vehicle
Hi all,

been a lurker for some time as ive owned a Discovery 2 which i used as a tow vehicle/ support vehicle for my Ultra4 buggy,

Ive recently rejoined defender ownership through inheriting my dads 110Dc, seems odd to be driving his pride & joy but im intending to keep it as he built it & add to it in a way he would have wanted,

First off its a 2004 XS in bonnati grey, it has been prepared & used as a rally recovery vehicle thus why it has the racking in the rear pod & split charge system with the 8274 up front,

Im intending to leave it as a whole like how it is as it lends itself to support/ tow dutys when were away racing,

its fitted with 255/85/16 bfg Km2's which i can say im very impressed with, suspension is a set of Konis & standard HD landrover springs with a 1" lift block up front & the 130HD trim springs on the back,

wheel spacers all round to give it some stance,
Since driving it home to wales from scotland, ive added a snorkel & the full mudflap relocation/ arch liner kit from gwyn lewis 4x4

when we went racing at King of the glens, my dad packed his workshop into the trailer & off we went, had 1000 litres of water on board plus a genset, mig, plasma cutter, compressor tools & spares

Hi Michael

Sad circumstances to find yourself back in a Defender, bit different to your wee 90 you raced!! Your dad would want to see his 110 being cared for and used for job he built it for Thumbs Up

Cheers

I'm a big fan of sensibly modified working defenders and this is definitely in that bracket.

Great looking truck! Care for it! Thumbs Up my dad also is a land rover man. He owns a defender 90 like me. One day it'll come to me alongside my land rovers. If I could only keep one of them. It'll be my dads. I'll keep it forever ! 2001 Td5 CSW (weekend and snow mobile) Plenty of lights, M/T tyres EGR delete, roofrack, swing away wheel carrier, snorkel.

Nothing really to add at the moment, have a 50" led light bar to go on when I get a mount sorted, would appear my defendoor has turned up, along with a battery management system I won on eBay,

Need to source a cyclone pre filter for the snorkel rather than the safari top & I've got a alpine Bluetooth stereo to fit for hands free,

Looks like I'll be driving it back to Scotland next week as the quote I've had for hiring a van is more than what it would cost to fuel the 110 towing a trailer

Redlinemike, there's a name from the past!

Good vehicle to get but very sad way to get it!

I've got a pair of 1000mile 255/85 Bronco MTs needing a home if your interested.

Would be good to catch up when your up next week.

Had a large ish parcel arrive from www.megasquirt-v8.co.UK containing a bonnet strut kit & there windscreen washer spray upgrade kit,

Glad to say with a little fettling the gas rams went on easy enough & the spray bars are now attached to the wipers as the should be,

Now have a more usable washer spray rather than the point & miss they come with as standard & the bonnet is now self supporting on its gas rams, 110 XS DC M57 + 8 Speed auto

At long last got some new rims on it as some of you may have seen in the wheel thread,

gave it a good clean & made it shine in the sun

Ive also added a small pair of 4" HID spots to the front along side the headlight loom upgrade, Unfortunately i discovered a down side to the HID's & they cause immense radio interference when they are powered up so looking to switch to a small pair of LED spots,

I also did a small subtle mod to the rear & added a pair of wide beam LEDs wired into the reverse lights

Hi Mike, thought I recognised the name from D2BC!

I've now got rid of the D2 and currently have two defenders.

Did you fit the 50in led bar?

Jim
