England 1999 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Alaska White
White smoke from exhaust
Need a bit of help here 1998 Td5 10p engine 110k miles on clock. Just been out in the Landrover to go to work and on pulling up when in neutral and applying throttle bursts get a puff of white smoke from exhaust coolant ok and seems to drive ok will check on way home. Not sure if it’s my paranoia but does sound more tappetty than normal at top end so will check the injector clearance thanks

Ohh I am afraid so engine was up to temp and at the end of my commute noticed on blipping throttle the white/grey smoke which would clear then left to idle for about twenty seconds repeat the throttle blipping and again an appearance of white smoke

Does it also do it on start up from cold?
Oil leak through turbo into exhaust turbine will create white smoke when exhaust is hot. Throttle burst will increase oil pressure, more leak. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

It’s pretty cosseted change the filters once every two month along with an oil change as it’s a daily driver. Checked on way home with nanocomm and getting an maf reading of 45 at idle it does go up but reading the figures on the net they say it should be reading 50 to 55 not tried with maf disconnected. Changed the injector loom the copper seal washers and fpr about 3 year ago and fuel pump 2 years ago runs fine most of the time but sometimes hesitant at low throttle. May be a good idea to check the injector tappers ? Smoke is evident when cold or hot with just a blip of the throttle. Thanks for any advice
