Silly question:What to do with removed steering wheel?
I've searched for threads but can't find anything that answers the question. Do you leave it in the vehicle with the risk of it being stolen? Take it with you? Chain it to something?
Obviously having the wheel stolen while you are away is going to be inconvenient.

Andrew

For me, it depends on the circumstances. At home, I always take it inside. When out and about, I'll sometimes take it with me but other times I lock it to the rear seat bracketry. It's also easier to hide it out of view there, too. Darren

Hello blackrock

It's a good question IMO as a removable steering wheel for me is right up there on the Security Layers approach to holding on to your Defender, so the 'what do I do with a removed Steering Wheel' has to work, so that you just do it...

I'm more or less with Darren on this... but overall:
1. I always remove it.
2. It nearly always goes with me.
3. If left in the Vehicle, it is out of sight, and locked.
(in truth this is an additional step and can take more time than just carrying the wheel,
but I do do this, again depending on circumstances)

I use a Surplus Bag occasionally, that was around £10

But for 'out and about' generally I have just 'traded up' to a Filson Ruck Sack
(my Swiss Army gave up at 10 years)... and part of the 'assessment' was how it would carry the Startech... (any 14'' wheel)

I did look at making the area under the Drivers Seat work for storage, but as I've Layered Access
into these areas (Battery + Main Fuses) into my General Security this is currently less practical but could be made to work with more effort.

Net for me... is to take it with you 'in style' ... Cool SKIP

This. I have lost count of the number of times I have rushed out in the morning to go to work, locked the house, locked the gate, unlocked the car, and sometimes even jumped in and started the engine, only to remember that the steering wheel is still in the house! Laughing

If I'm parked at home, I bring the steering wheel inside.

When out and about, I put a good quality bike lock through the hole in the middle. This way the scrote has to cut off the locking cover and cut through the lock to put the wheel back on. All while the alarm is going off.

I'm hatching plan for a BBUS++. Louder and longer than standard.

I like the idea of the Master Blaster. Running off 240V would be a problem. I did near of a tale about an internal siren to prevent scrotes from nicking things. Such is our crazy legal system, it's most likely it would end up with you being prosecuted for hearing damage to the scrote. Big Cry
