Advertisement pulled
I didn't realize that that rather daft and generally artificial-looking advertisement featuring the cliff edge and the parking sensors had been pulled in the UK following complaints:-

https://www.thedrive.com/news/dangerous-cl...nned-in-uk

It was a daft advertisement and misleading because (as discussed on this very forum) sensors won't detect cliff edges, but worth complaining about? There are clearly some people with too much time and not enough to do!

It states that it is banned in the UK. Does that mean that they are not concerned if Johnny Foreigner reverses over a cliff edge Smile Defender 90XS SW

I suppose what’s obvious to us isn’t obvious to others. Car systems are advanced enough to offer self-drive, crawl control, see through the bonnet and create a 360 composite view - so it’s not unreasonable that a misleading advert advert should at least represent the truth? JB

It doesn't have the sound of the reversing sensors detecting a non-existent obstacle anymore. Darren

Which is fine since presumably the driver is now using mirrors, cameras, and judgement to avoid plunging to his death, which, I'll wager, is what really happened.

It was pretty stupid putting the parking sensor routine in at that point even if as JLR claims the rock was big enough to activate the system. Perhaps they were relying on the inevitable criticism bringing publicity, in which case they were right.

Firing off an email to complain only takes a few seconds. It probably takes the same amount of time to start a thread on here complaining about complaining, and just a little less to reply complaining about complaining about complaining.

Maybe we all have too much time on our hands? WARNING.
