Heated windscreen Wiring
So finally removed whole dash in the 2007 Tdci to replace the seized wiper spindle, more on all that later in another post.

So my heated windscreen was causing an unpleasant electrical burning smell some time ago and while no obvious cause didn't want to spend too much time on it so pulled the fuse.

Now with the dash out the cause is plainly obvious.

So, how/ can I change this connector and is the ceramic (or is it plastic) part available to buy separately?

The negative terminal is unaffected.

I had the same thing. I cleaned off the old stuff which had gone soft and put a couple of thicknesses of heat shrink on it. No more burning smell.

If it was ceramic it wouldn't have burned/melted!

It is a salutary reminder that the windscreen draws a hefty current however, and it is worth making sure that the connectors grip really tightly. The source of the heat will have been a poor connection.
