Would you be put off a Puma that was in nice condition but had done 120,000 miles?

l know the TD5 can "go on for ever" but does the Puma have a mileage where it's likely to need a replacement engine.

l realise it depends to a large extent on how it's been treated.

It is more the age now that puts me off a Puma, I was once told by an employee that Ford only ever engineer a product for the first owner, beyond that they feel it's not their responsibility

Without knowing the age it is hard to answer that question. I personally wouldn't buy a Puma which had done fewer than 10k miles per annum, since not using them seems to be more deleterious than using them. I would certainly not be put off a high mileage one provided that it appeared to have been well-maintained.

Condition is more important than mileage. Bear in mine that the youngest Puma is now nine years old and the oldest 18 years old, so anything under 100k is low mileage.

Says the owner of a Puma with 285,000 miles on the clock!

Surely that statement has to be true for 99.9% of all car makers the World over.....

I’d rather a high mileage one thats been used and maintained well than a low mileage one that’s been sat in a garage. The lower mileage one has more chance of causing you a headache from being sat around.

120k is relatively in my opinion. All the big ticket items should have almost been replaced by that point and ready for another 100k. 2008 2.4 110 Utility Station Wagon XS.

Mine had 185 on it when I purchased. Needed a few bits doing (vac pump, vcv, manifold clean etc) but ran really well.

Even if it was a 16 reg that is still not massive annual mileage.

I would not be put off.

120k is nothng really, a good service history and a clean straight motor at the right price your looking pretty good. check the usual obviously eg corrosion on chassis and bulkhead, oil leaks etc. 2023 Defender L663 V8
