Limp mode help!
Went into limp mode tonight in the same way as it did when an intercooler hose failed. I could hear a much more audible induction noise in the cab. Have checked the hoses and can’t see anything. I took out the sensor from the passenger side intercooler hose and it looked pretty wet with oil. Is this normal or has the turbo given up?

Well oil in the intercooler is a fairly common thing, really depends on how much oil. It is also the reason many people fit a provent 200 in to their vehicles, to prevent oily gasses making it back in to the intake system.

Anyway... Induction noise. Perhaps a blown intercooler?!

That’s the “Air Charge Sensor” part number LR032216 on a 2.2 puma.

That’s what LR call it but in reality I think it’s an Air Charge Temperature Sensor.

Whenever I have taken it out to check or give a clean with a maf cleaner spray it’s been dry, no oil.

The odd thing it that it is only making the whooshing sound in the cab when driving. If I’m in neutral it revs freely.

The hose from the turbo to intercooler wasn’t the tightest at the turbo end, got a good couple of turns on it.

Just twigged. When I changed the intercooler hoses, I didn’t do the short elbow as I just could work out how to do it!! Just felt round the bottom of it there is a bloody hole in it!!

Good you managed to find the culprit, someone else’s on here about a week ago had the same hose fail. If they replaced it they may have some tips on how they did it.

It’s the air inlet manifold hose that has split. Part 7. Looks like a pig to fit
