United Kingdom 2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Corris Grey
Quick question about led bulbs for interior courtesy lights.
Several years back I replaced the factory fitted bulbs with leds in my 2015 90, it made a great improvement. Said led bulbs have now both died but I can’t remember what spec they are - anybody able to give me a clue?

These are the LED interior bulbs I use in my puma. Nice light. Kit includes two bulbs.

Any idea what length you ordered camelman and whether they are then dimmable as per the theatre dimming on later vehicles?

I guess CANbus compatible should help, but not sure there....

Food for thought if you have a Puma from 2012.

From remotekey on failures of the ALM ECU.

“A problem with Defender 2012 onwards with the black unit fitted is they don’t function with LED interior lighting, we have had problems with the interior light circuit failing when LED’s are used”
By which they mean the interior light circuit in the ALM ECU failed due to the use of LED’s !

Last paragraph before the pics at the bottom of the page https://remotekey.co.uk/land-rover-keys-re...larm-ecus/

This is new news for me, and is potentially alarming ! ( sorry! )

My Puma is a Dec 2012 build ( reg march 2013 ). It is still on its original battery and battery , alarm, immobilized and fobs are all performing well. It has led bulbs in the interior lights which also work fine ( although the front interior does flicker when rear door is open ? Bad earth? )

Having read the link to remotekey.com I will need to check out the colour and part number of my alarm control box.

Had anybody experienced these problems of the alarm control box failing when the vehicle battery is old and dying?
It will be cheaper and less problematic to change the battery than change the alarm control box

Can't remember off the top of my head, I just bought the same length as currently in there.

They do dim after closing the doors (in my TD5), I've got the MUDSTUFF complete replacement units in the Puma

Re ALM ECU failing due to low battery causing brownout, unfortunately YES . See this topic and my posts https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic80048.html

Yours will likely be an ALM ECU (black) and be a CH serial number. So keep the battery well charged.

Are you sure? Switches go to the ALM, ALM controls both lamp's earths (in the auto/dim position) in parallel. Also all door switches but the driver's door are wired in parallel and the ALM can't tell which one is which.
So, if only one lamp flickers, something's wrong with the lamp, but it should flicker if any of the doors is open. On the other hand, if only one door causes a flickering lamp, the door switch may be bad, but then both lamps should flicker.

Cheapo LED lights are known to cause issues. I can't comment on the alarm/interior light issue. It's not uncommon that cheap headlights ruin radio reception and can cause other issues so why not.

Best to by from reputable LR suppliers and treat eBay with caution.

To check remove drivers footwell speaker and look upwards under your dash with your head just above the peddles. If the unit is black it’s the ALM not a 10as which is green . If serial number beginning with CH it’s first gen ALM ECU, if DH it's second gen ALM ECU
