FM aerial
Typical of most defenders, mine has the classic slide down aerial on the front wing. I keep it down most of the time because it looks crap! Pretty much get radio 1 fine, but most other stations are poor.

What do you lot do? Is there a suitable alternative to the daft defender FM aerial? Or am I in the minority and everyone else loves it?! I’ve got the standard Alpine head unit

I can’t say I’ve ever given the appearance of the aerial a 2nd thought. I do lower it when off road to stop it getting snapped off by trees though. Nakatanenga do an alternative style one. 4x4 Overlander sell it. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I would thoroughly recommend the Nakatanenga aerial.

Top tip, remove the panel on the top of the wing when you come to switch it over. 2011 CSW XS 90

I like the crappy standard aerial.
Set it to the height of the vehicle. Hey it checks the height when going under height restriction barriers Thumbs Up

I shall have a look at the naka-jobbie.

Also like your height restriction warning too!

When I had to chop my old aerial off the wing , first I couldn't find a suitable replacement that wasn't a stupid price, and second I didn't want the hassle of feeding the cable through. I had just fitted a heated screen and didn't want reception problems with a stick on aerial. As I already had the front roof lining off, I opted for a sharkfin type. Because the rear roof lining is a pig to remove and refit, I fitted it at the front and it looks ok. It's slightly offset from centre because there's a roof rib there but it's only an inch. It works well, FM and DAB. But if I were to do it again, I'd put it at the back where standard cars have them.

The shark fin is the neater option. But has to have a hole cut in the roof.

I’m going to live with my original aerial for a bit, see if I can get used to it then consider the options.

Thanks for all your thoughts.
