Can anyone advise if this is correct? It doesn't seem to be connected to the cross member

Apparently there's not supposed to be any kind of bush or isolator in between. On mine, the two holes don't line up very well anyway.

So, appears to be an unused part or something to keep the piece in place during mounting.

Same here. When I first saw it I wondered what it could be for too.

I'd be worried if the holes did line up perfectly... after all it is a Defender!

Perhaps that's its use. Its a quality control check for misalignment Rolling Eyes 110 2.4TDCi

I think its as described above. There is an optical laser measuring device at the end of the production line. If the two holes line up the test driver Censored one of the front wheels into a 9" curb at 25mph. This then miss aligns the vehicle which in turn causes component failure Thumbs Up Thus keeping suppliers and dealers busy during these hard times.
